:- 2.0 out of 5 stars from Penelope -- Disappointed.... : I love Lauren Liess. Absolutely LOVE her. But.....the first thing i noticed was the paper quality: it feels like it's printed on pulp paper. For the price of the book, I expected higher quality, similar to her other books. Either that, or there was a reason for the paper to be so thin? maybe it's printed with recycled paper by design? I don't know and it doesn't say. Secondly, I've seen many of the images elsewhere. I love her aesthetic but was wanting more of it, not a repeat of previous projects. If this is the first book you've purchased then by all means keep it. But I am returning it and staying with the other 2. Its a shame b/c I was super excited about this one. Collected, seeping in nature and meaningful objects combined with that unexpected dose of spice, and a swoop of modern funkiness. It’s amazing- this book. My only regret is that I read some of the sour reviews and waited on ordering. Don’t do it! As a graphic designer and lover of texture - the paper is beautiful. Im so tired of the glossy overstated passé design books. I crave pages that are aligned with what I value. I’ll pass on glossy pages, for the rich velvet of a natural pulpy Cotton bend. Lauren opens her heart and design walk in this book, she shares her homes and where she has raised her family. It’s soul filled. Gives meaningful advice and beautiful photos of new and fresh designs, as well as insightful deep walks through past designs. I love this book. It’s a treasure. I can’t imagine why there are negative reviews- but perhaps those people just don’t know what true timeless design and living is really about. This girl- is amazing at timeless with a fresh breeze of sunflower dosed with fresh modern crisp, clean air. Feels like home is pure Luxury, if you know what luxury really is. 5 plus stars- again! Only half way thru because the text is outstanding & I don’t want to miss anything she has to say. Yes the paper isn’t as thick & glossy but at today’s cost of printing it didn’t cost $100 or more. - 3.0 out of 5 stars from Long time admirer -- Great talent, very poor paper quality : Very disappointed with the quality of the paper. (Remind me of old grayish newspaper) The reason why people buy paper version vs kindle is for the touch, the feel of the paper, the brightness of the pictures. As she says, this book is more of her personal take on home, family, life and actually gives you a peek into the soul that goes into her interior designs. She is clearly talented and continues to expand her skills as well as the concepts she brings to her spaces (plus I love that she and her husband and adorable kids make family a priority too). The photography is stunning as well! So glad I added this book to my home collection! Buy it...you won't be sorry (buy all 3 of her books if you don't yet own them). The internet is so diluted nowadays it was refreshing to have a quality hardcover and flip through the elegant and delicate pages. It has brought me so much joy over the last week.
